June 2020 – STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST) is pleased to announce that vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) sterilization services are now available as part of our global contract sterilization offering.
VHP is a deep vacuum, low-temperature process compatible with a wide range of polymeric materials, making it an effective sterilization method for a variety of healthcare products, including combination delivery devices, devices with electronics, pharmaceutical containers, parenteral drug delivery systems, and sensitive devices.
STERIS AST now offers VHP processing at our Tullamore, Ireland facility using the innovative STERIS VHP® LTS-V Low Temperature Sterilizer equipment manufactured by STERIS Life Sciences. The VHP offering is included within the scope of the facility’s ISO 13485 certification, allowing STERIS to offer full validation in accordance with ISO14937 and routine VHP sterilization to our Customers. Whether their needs require contract services or in-house applications, STERIS provides VHP sterilization solutions to manufacturers of healthcare products.
In November 2019, the FDA accepted STERIS’s proposal of LTS-V VHP sterilization of medical devices as part of the Agency’s innovation challenge, examining future looking technologies for termination sterilization applications. Go here to read more about STERIS’s participation in this initiative.
The addition of VHP furthers STERIS AST’s commitment to providing Customers with a technology-neutral offering of sterilization services, which includes electron beam, ethylene oxide, gamma, steam, and X-ray technologies.
