December 2020 – Earlier this year, STERIS announced the addition of electron beam testing services at our Radiation Technology Center (RTC) in Libertyville, Illinois, USA. We are now excited to announce the addition of X-ray testing services, which completes the expansion of this dedicated facility.
The expansion to include X-ray testing services complements our existing gamma and electron beam test services available at the RTC, providing radiation sterilization Customers with comprehensive product validation and assessment services, including;
- Dose establishment
- Dose verification
- Product feasibility assessments
The RTC’s X-ray testing capabilities also support Customers in validating product for processing at the production X-ray processing facilities being added across our global network, including several locations in the United States.
Libertyville, Illinois Radiation Processing Campus
In addition to the Radiation Technology Center, our Libertyville campus also includes two gamma processing facilities, an on-site microbiology laboratory, and is home to our Radiation TechTeam® technical experts. The combination of a dedicated technology center, technical support, and laboratory services in one location results in a seamless transfer of validation and dose audit work into our production processing locations by providing:

- Faster turnaround for low dose processing
- Single contact for management of dose audit
- One report to consolidate dose audit activities
