June 2020 – Earlier this year, we celebrated the official opening of the expanded laboratory at the STERIS Tullamore, Ireland facility. The laboratory expansion complements the existing electron beam and ethylene oxide sterilization services offered at the Tullamore facility.
The occasion was marked by the attendance of a large number of Irish medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers, plus representatives from the local council, Irish agencies and suppliers involved in the project.
Visitors were joined by STERIS Tullamore employees and members of the STERIS leadership team for an opening ceremony and tour of the facilities.
The event marked the culmination of four years‘ hard work to deliver a laboratory space that not only meets current needs, but has scope for continued growth of our sterilization offering to meet the needs of our valued Customers.
Lorraine Moran, Ireland Regional Director, comments that the “STERIS plan is to continue to always be at the forefront of sterilization innovation and delivery”.
The expansion includes a new state-of-the-art laboratory, double the size of the previous laboratory, improved process flow, and adding a new cleanroom suite to support the growth in volume and increased complexity of medical devices.
Mark Botting, Director of Global Laboratories at STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies, outlines, “The team has done an excellent job in delivering this new laboratory, which will allow us to further improve the great service we give to our Customers, and supports our ongoing commitment to expanding capacity and service to the Irish market place.”
